Few of us become genealogists and work in isolation. We love to exchange our information and
pick each others' brains. In the BC time period (Before Computers), we spent a lot of time
typing up information for other people, running to the copy-shop to make copies, then sending
it off in the snail mail.
Most of us have graduated to creating the files on our computers, then sending it to others as
email attachments. One of the drawbacks to this system is that the receiver may not have
software that is compatible to yours. When they try to open the attachment, they get a lot
of formatting (garbage to their system).
You can create a website set up to share information. You put your information out there and
others can find it with a search engine, read it and get in touch with you. You will find
cousins contacting you with the information you need. You can even put queries on the
message boards at RootsWeb and other sites and let people know you have the site.
