Well, it's nearly Christmas again! I love the holiday season.
It's the only time of year when people treat others the way
they should all the time, but it always seems to get here
before I'm ready for it.
We had a great presentation at our November meeting thanks
to Bank of America's Julia McAnnish for sharing information
with us about e-banking. The Internet is a tremendous resource,
not only for research, but for our convenience as well. Security
and privacy has always been my biggest concern when it comes
to personal information and monetary transactions. I have
known of people who didn't trust banks and kept their money
stuffed in a mattress or in a sock at the bottom of the well.
I never felt that way personally, but e-commerce is new and
I read about hackers and security problems in our e-mail clients
every day. Progressive companies are working very hard to
make sure we can do business in the modern world safely and
confidently.
We were short several officers during November, the Patricks
and Preffitts attended the fall Comdex in Las Vegas to see
what is new on the horizon for the computing industry. I'm
sure they will share some of what they learned with us at
our December 21st meeting. I know everyone is busy preparing
for Christmas but take time out to attend this meeting, and
don't miss our holiday party on the 28th. We'll have a great
meal and companionship. We have been very good this year so
Santa is sure to make an appearance as well.
Happy Computing,
Terry
