Older Version

Those longing for the good old days of MSN Messenger 3.6 or Acrobat Reader 2 will find the classics at Old Version.com, where upgrading isn't always considered a blessing. Whatever the cause, whether your computer isn't compatible with a new version or the new version is a bloated monster, you might prefer the old. Find it here.

The site archives old versions of many software programs, from AOL to Eudora, acquired from individual contributors who feel your pain, with 297 versions of 39 different programs. But they only do Windows and only freeware and shareware. Still, most visitors will find what they seek and, if not, the site creators will try to locate it for you.

Worldwide Newspaper Index

Find weekly community newspapers from The Idyllwild Town Crier to The Oman Daily Observer at Online Newspapers.com, where you can graze on the world's small town gazettes - literally hundreds of them from every continent - from the comfort of your own home. The problem with the site as I see it is that the papers are listed by name rather than by state. You'll have to browse a lot if you don't remember the name of your old hometown paper.

Old Time Radio

This is one of the best sites I've heard in a long time. Here's what it says at the site: "Before the days of video games, shopping malls, MTV, and the Internet, families used to sit in their living room each night to listen to radio shows such as Abbott and Costello, Amos and Andy, Superman, Groucho Marx, The Avenger, Gunsmoke, Sherlock Homes, and many others." Gather 'round the Net and enjoy some good old time radio.

Do You Have What it Takes to Become a U.S. Citizen?

Take the test that the Immigration and Naturalization Service gives to people applying for U.S. citizenship. I was surprised at its detail -- and how many questions I missed. Makes me admire those people who must take it orally when they can't even speak much English.
