A. *.eml files are Outlook Express Mail Messages. Try a couple
of things: First, try saving the file to disk and then try
opening it from My Documents or wherever you have it saved.
Another thing to try is to run the msimn executable file
with the /reg option. This will cause Outlook Express to reregister
its recognized file types.
a. Close Outlook Express.
b. Click Start and Run.
c. In the Open box, type msimn /reg and click OK.
Q. I'm the only one who uses my computer,
however I am unable to Add/Remove Programs. How do I set Windows
XP so that I am the administrator?
A.Follow the path Start > Control Panel > User Accounts.
There you will find options to Pick a task or Pick an account
to change. Clicking on the Administrator account will give
you options to: Change my name, Create a passport, Change
my picture, Change my account type, and Set up my account
to use a .NET passport. Click on Change my Account; you will
see two types with radio buttons: Administrator and Limited.
Click on the button beside Administrator. If someone else
is listed as an Administrator, you may need to change the
name.
The Computer Administrator account lets the user install
and remove programs and hardware, make changes in settings,
access and read all non-private files, create and delete user
accounts, change your own and others' account name or type,
change your own picture and create, change or remove your
own password. Limited accounts will only let the user change
his/her own picture or create, change or remove a password.
You may also have a Guest user account which allows any user
who does not have a user account to log onto the computer,
but the guest does not have access to password-protected files,
folders or settings. The Guest use account can be turned on
or off by the administrator.
An alternative way to get there is to right-click on the
open space of the desktop and then click on the Desktop tab.
Then proceed as directed above.
