I am very proud to be a part of ICON, and to serve as your president!
Please excuse me if it sounds like I'm bragging, but for a small,
non-profit, all volunteer organization, we have a lot to be proud
of.
ICON provides important community outreach services through St.
John's seniors program, offering introductory classes in computing
as well as the Internet. We also provide volunteer support for The
Edge Community Technology Center, at Midtown-Carnegie branch library
We provide a wealth of member services, including instruction and
support from beginner to more advanced levels in the use, management,
and maintenance of the personal computer.
Our online "Help Forum" is about to become a reality
too. This support feature is the modern equivalent of a help desk.
With it we will be able to provide timely answers to your questions
and tech support for problems you run into between meetings so you
won't have to wait long for help. You will be able to post your
questions to the forum any time of day or night. You may not receive
answers in the middle of the night, (although you could if someone
happens to be on the Internet at that time) but most of the time,
you should be able to get some help within a few minutes to a few
hours. Don't miss our August meeting, we'll be demonstrating this
wonderful new feature of our web site at that time.
We received some valuable feedback from our members survey. I was
hoping for a larger cross-section of our members to respond but
we are glad to have the input from all of you who did take time
to fill one out and submit it. Knowing what services you think ICON
should provide helps us to make better plans for the future.
I'm positively convinced the entire group benefits when we all
work together, helping one another. After all, "members helping
members" has been ICON's unofficial motto from the beginning.
Kudos to all of you who lend a hand, helping to make ICON what
it is!
Happy Computing
Terry
