Several improvements to ICON's web-based calendar of events have
been completed. There is intense demand for the Springfield-Greene
County Library meeting rooms, which makes it impossible to schedule
the same events at the same library each month. We hope these changes
make it easier for you, our members, to know where and when ICON
events will be held.
Home Page Changes
The first changes you will notice actually appear on ICON's home
page in the "Upcoming Events" section. The events listed
there are those being held on the next three dates when ICON events
are scheduled. (You can always click the "Calendar" link
in the left-side menu bar to reach the complete calendar of events.)
Links have been added to the Upcoming Events section whereby you
can click the event to learn more information about it, or you can
click the location of the event, i.e. The Library Station, to view
a map and driving directions to that location.
Calendar Changes
The same improvements listed above have been added to the calendar
itself. Additionally, if you scroll to the bottom of the calendar,
you will see an addition that looks like the figure shown. The
"Quick Jump Menu" allows you to quickly go to the month
of your choice without having to click the "Previous"
or "Next" links at the top of the calendar. The four "Print-Friendly
Options" allow you to print black and white (no color) calendars
or listings of ICON events that can be kept in your purse, in your
car, or on your desk to remind you of when and where the events
will be. Of course, it is always a good idea to double-check the
web site for last-minute changes.
Visit ICON's web site and try these new options. You will notice
that a number of the classes are "to be announced", so
please check the site frequently for those opportunities. Thanks
to Mike Fay, David Oliver, Mick Topping, Bill Patrick, and Terry
Roberts whose suggestions effected these improvements.
Note: If you print one of the Listings of
Future Events, and the gray background that helps delineate the
events does not show on your printout, then (in Internet Explorer)
go to Tools > Internet Options > Advanced (Tab) > Printing
and place a checkmark in the "Print Background Colors and Images"
box. Click Apply and reprint the listing. Background printing is
turned off by default to allow you to more easily print web pages
without wasting colored ink, so be sure to go back and uncheck the
box, if you do not wish to print all background colors.
