Q. When my computer has been asleep, I always have to log in again. Is there a way to change this?

A. Click on the Windows desktop in an open area; select Properties, click on the Screen Saver tab and then the Power button. This opens the Power Options Properties window. Click on the Advanced tab and click on the checkmark to uncheck the box beside Prompt for password when computer resumes from standby.

Q. Is there a keyboard shortcut to view the desktop?

A. To get back to your desktop quickly without using your mouse, hold down the Windows key and press the D key. To go back to where you were, just do the same thing again.

Q. How can I send someone a web page?

A. One way is to copy the URL address, and paste it into an email. This provides a link that can be double-clicked to go to the web page. Highlight the address, hold down the Ctrl key and press the C key to copy the address to the clipboard, then in the email message area hold down the Ctrl key and press the V key to view or paste in the address.

Q. Where can I get the cursor that looks like a cute little mouse?

A. The mouse cursor is one of the pointer choices that comes on the driver installation CD with a Microsoft mouse or trackball. If you have lost your CD you can download the IntelliPoint 4.1 software from http://www.Microsoft.com. The name of the file is IP4_12EngALLMsi.exe.

To get the file, go to the Microsoft address above. Under the heading Resources, click on Downloads. Below Search for a Download in the Keywords space, type: IntelliPoint, and click on Go. Windows finds IntelliPoint 5.0 mouse software for Windows XP and 2000 and IntelliPoint 4.12 mouse software for Windows 98, NT 4.0, and Me. Put your pointer on IntelliPoint 4.12 and it becomes a hand with a pointing finger. A double-click takes you to a details page where you can click on the underlined word Download to go to the next step. Just keep following the prompts until you have it on your computer, and then double-click on the filename to install the program. After installation, there will be a Microsoft Mouse icon on the desktop. Double-click the icon to open the Mouse Properties window, click on the down arrow under Scheme and click on Mouse. You should see the cute little mouse--click on OK and he's yours.

*If left or right mouse click is not designated, left click.
