I use the following method for making "tray-cards"
for my CD "Jewel Cases" instead of purchasing the
commercially made products:
Note that the finished dimensions of the "tray-cards"
must be 4-5/8 inches by 5-15/16 inches.
- Open WordPad and set the "page setup" margins
at the left and top of the page to the minimum settings.
(.25 in.)
- Make sure the ruler is "turned on" by going
to "View" and select "Ruler" then click
on "Options" and select the "Options"
tab then set the measurement units to "inches"
- For a font, I use Ariel Western and set the font size
at 16. Select the "Format" button and set the
paragraph indentation at 0 and alignment: Left.
- I usually type the recording artist's last name, then
the first name followed by a dash, then the title of the
CD, such as: GALWAY, JAMES - The Lark In The Clear Air -
(Note that the title length
does not exceed 4-3/8 inches on the page ruler. I then switch
the font size to 12, then press "Enter" twice
and then type the number 1 followed by the first selection
on the CD. (Note: You can usually type 28 lines in the 12-point
font size, 34 lines in 10-point and 41 lines in the 8-point
font size (Ariel).
- Print this page on the paper you use and then make the
first cut a horizontal one just above the top line of printing.
Second, make a vertical cut just to the left of the printed
entry. Third, cut the paper vertically so the printed area
is inside a 4-5/8 inch width. Forth, cut the printed area
to a 5-15/16 inch length.

- Now turn the paper over and markan allowance of 9/32inches
from the narrow ends to allow a right angle fold. I place
a ruler along this line and fold the paper upward for a
90-degree fold at each end.
- Snap the CD holder out of the "Jewel Case",
insert the printed listing and then snap the CD holder back
in place.
