Natural Readers

At our last meeting when Bonnie Brockman demoed Naturally Speaking, someone asked about a reader for the typed words. I found this review of a free one in Lockergnome's newsletter. It's free if you'd like to download and try it. "… All you have to do is copy text to the clipboard and it reads it right away. There are five voices that come with the program. This is not a natural voice as the free version doesn't support natural voices. If you have natural voices installed on your computer, the program won't work. It's a big program and requires at least 200 MB free disk space."

Nobody Here

A good time waster. Just move your cursor over the bears.

Penguin

Here's something for you that's simple, won't strain your brain, and may make you chuckle. Be sure to keep poking the penguin until you think the poor critter can't take any more. Keep on for a while too, since things change. Another time waster, but what else can you do on long winter evenings when there's nothing good on TV?

Excel Sites
If you took Mick Topping's Excel class, you're probably well on your way to "expert-dom" with it. These three sites are PC World articles with some further advice on using Excel.

1956-1960 Juke Box

Rock around the clock instead of doing something useful. The "1956 to 1960 Juke Box" has hundreds of songs from my era in Windows Media Player format, all free, and all downloadable. Very hep. I think this is an old site (still works) but I'm not sure how legal it is to download music now. Still fun to listen if you grew up in the mid-fifties.
