This meeting was held in the auditorium of The Library Center
on South Campbell, starting at 1:00 PM. ICON'S President,
Terry Roberts opened this meeting by welcoming everyone present.
He asked for a show of hands of visitors and new members in
attendance.
Terry mentioned upcoming plans, SIGS, Educational classes,
Windows Intermediate classes at The Library Center. (The next
class scheduled for Thursday March 18th at 9:00 AM until 3:00
PM.), Word Processing SIG that is usually held at the Midtown
Library once a month, Tuesday February 24 is the upcoming
SIG which starts at 5:30 PM.
Terry mentioned that if you attend or participate in these
activities, you need to be really careful or you'll learn
something you didn't realize you needed to know
Mentioned was a $500.00 donation made to the Library Center
from ICON, after tragedy struck from arson. Other ICON members
were encouraged to make additional donations to the library
through ICON, checks to be made out to ICON, should say for
Library Fund.
Mary Phillips announced that Elsa Hazell's son, Alva Hazell,
who is a teacher at Lebanon High School, has offered to instruct
a class on Adobe Photo Shop on April 3rd. Space is limited
and reservations must be made prior to this class. Mary asked
that the secretary be in charge of reservations. Call 866-1234.
Terry appointed a Nominating Committee to report back at
the March meeting with a slate of officers for the upcoming
year. They are Elsa Hazell, Edith Breshears, Shirley Carpenter,
Terry Roberts and Bill Patrick as Chairman.
Next, Program Chairperson Nancy Preffitt talked about today's
program by Intel Centrino Mobile Technology. "Can Wireless
Technology Change The Way Consumers Live? Mick Topping did
an excellent presentation of Mobile Lifestyle today and tomorrow.
Question were asked and members participated in answering
questions on this new technology.
