We were educated and entertained by Tanya Lux and her sharing
of the CorelDRAW Graphics Suite 12 during our July meeting.
Tanya is a graphic artist who has taught and/or demonstrated
all the major graphics programs on the market today, as well
as some of their predecessors. Her program emphasized the
improvements in the new version and demonstrated the pressure-sensitive
Wacom tablet, which allows much more control via a "pen"
versus the mouse or touchpad. Corel has made special pricing
available to user groups, and 30-day trial versions are available
for download. Toni Somers and Chris Harris won the fabulous
door prizes Tanya provided.
Don't miss ICON'S August 21st meeting - the Microsoft Man
visits us early this year! We will meet at the Brentwood Library,
and Richard Katz will be sharing demos of the latest features
and tools built on Microsoft technology. You'll learn how
to manage and share your digital photos, and explore new ways
to communicate and interact with family and friends online.
You'll also learn how to help protect yourself from unwanted
junk e-mail, harmful viruses, pop-ups and more. And, you'll
get a sneak preview into some of the advanced features of
MSN Messenger, an industry leading instant messaging client.
Mark your calendars now for ICON'S September events! The
annual ICON picnic will be the second Saturday, September
11, at Silver Springs Park from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. As
always, we need an idea of how many will be attending the
picnic, so purchase your tickets (only a quarter!) from Bill
Patrick at any ICON function.
There will be no Mini-Seminar, Digital Imaging or Desktop
Publishing SIG meetings in September. Our regular monthly
meeting will be the third Saturday, September 18, at the Brentwood
Library. Plans for this meeting are being finalized.
Happy Computing
