THE LARGEST LIST OF SUPERSTITIONS

Most of us are familiar with the belief that a black cat crossing your path is a 'sign' that you are in for some serious bad luck. But just what happens when a frog comes hopping into your house? Find out about a frog's fortunate implications and a ton of other 'old superstitions' at this cool site.

"The Largest List of Superstitions on the Web" lives up to its name with enough superstitions to drive weaker souls to outright paranoia. Choose from a fun list of categories including Good Luck, Bad Luck, Acting & Stage, Hair, Christmas and even Death. You will learn useful but dubious tips on getting rid of evil spirits on Christmas Eve (throw open the door to your house at the stroke of midnight) and unwanted houseguests (just sprinkle some salt behind them when they are not looking).

LEWIS AND CLARK

Walk in the historical footsteps of Lewis & Clark at this great website, brought to you by the American Library of Congress. An educational experience for children and adults alike, the site is a virtual timeline of the explorers' legendary journey to the Pacific coast.

There are twenty points along the map, click on each to see a quick "movie" made up of actual journal entries from Lewis & Clark. The first point on the map, "Mission and Preparations", is especially noteworthy as it contains personal letters and advice from Thomas Jefferson to the two explorers while they were in St. Louis preparing for their journey.

AMERICA ON THE MOVE

This is the website behind the current Smithsonian Museum of American History exhibition of the same name. The exhibition, entitled "America on the Move", explores the impact that transportation has had on the development of our country and our lives. The site is divided into three intertwined paths, "Exhibition", "Artifacts" and "Themes. Take your time to truly appreciate this inspired look into the growth and change that has taken place at the man-made hands of boats, planes, trains and automobiles. You will require a Multimedia Flash Player to really experience the exhibition.

FREE! E-BOOKS

BlackMask.com is dedicated to providing free e-books to Internet users. Here you'll have the opportunity to read the featured books online, download them or even print the material. There are currently 16,134 titles divided into 37 categories for easy access with a full search facility should you know just the book you're seeking. There is also the Baen Free Library for free science fiction e-books. Eric Flint, the site originator has very definite ideas on e-books. Convinced that e-books are no different than accessing a book at the public library or borrowing a copy, posted his own book as a 'demonstration of principle.'

You can even have an opportunity to post your own work if you're so inclined!
