ICON's September program kicked off our "Focus on Security"
series with Roger Pfeiffer sharing with us a little about
setting up a home network and some basics for how to protect
our PCs and networks from invasion by spyware, adware, hackers,
viruses, trojans, worms, and their ilk. Roger answered lots
of questions about networking and security from those in attendance,
and also donated some items for future giveaways. If you can
use Epson compatible ink cartridges (C60 or 777) please let
me know, he gave us quite a few. Many thanks to Roger for
sharing his time, knowledge, and gifts/donations with us.
I believe there were quite a few in the audience who were
more interested in networking than in security. I promise
to make Home Networking our next focus topic.
Don't miss our October 16th meeting, when we will have as
a guest speaker, Alva Hazell. Alva is a graphic arts teacher
at Lebanon High School and the son of our own Elsa Hazell.
He has also taught graphic design at Drury University, and
will be sharing with us some of the wizardry of Adobe Photoshop.
The topic of his presentation will be, "Using Layers
in Adobe Photoshop."
Dave Schmidt, from Best Buy is slated for November 20th,
so make plans now, to attend this special event. Last year,
Dave was a big hit, sharing with us, some of the most popular
new electronic gadgets for the Christmas gift giving season.
Come see the hottest new items for this year!
Happy Computing
Terry
