Is the high price of gas making it difficult for
you to come to meetings?
APCUG (Association of Personal Computer User Groups) is a
national organization to which ICON (Interactive Computer
Owners Network) belongs. The July-September Reports magazine
has an article by Alicia King Padgett-Townsend entitled, "More
Miles for the Buck: How to be an Informed Gasoline Consumer".
She tells about a simple-to-use, FREE website that lists the
lowest and highest prices in areas in each state and gives
an example of the California website.
http://www.missourigasprices.com
is the address for Missouri. It is necessary for you to
register your name, a password, etc., but there is no charge.
The
way this site operates is that when registered members see
a good price, they go to the website and fill in the section:
Report a Gas Price. When you scroll down the page to the second
section where it says Search for Gas Prices, you can click
on the down arrow point for a drop-down menu and select Springfield
(or Ozark, or whatever town you want to know about) then select
the specific kind of station or All Stations. Next you will
click the Search Now button. Another option is to search in
a particular zip code area. Prices are available for the last
8 to 48 hours.
