Q. I accidentally blocked all cookies from one of the websites I like and now I can't get to it. How do I fix the problem?

A. Take note of the address of the website and follow the path Start > Control Panel > Internet Options > Privacy. Q. My new HP computer came without a Windows XP operating system CD. What am I supposed to do if the software on my computer has to be restored or rebuilt?

A. HP has included a one-time option to create a set of recovery CD’s for your computer that will put it back in the same condition as it came from the manufacturer. The recovery CD’s will contain the operating system, the drivers, and any other preloaded software. All updates and software that you have installed will have to be reinstalled. The path for this is: Start > All Programs > PC Help and Tools > HP Recovery CD/DVD. The program will tell you how many CD’s are needed and how to label them, then you just follow the prompts when it tells you to insert the next CD. When the last CD has been written, there are instructions to put the CD’s in a safe place, because only one set can be made. If and when you do need to restore your system, options let you do either a repair so that your data files are left intact or the hard drive can be formatted which will completely erase all files.

Q. How do I write data files to a CD using the program that comes in Windows XP?

A. Right click on Start, then left click Explore and locate the files you want to put on the CD. Select the file/files so they are highlighted, right click on a highlighted file for a menu, select Send To: and select the CD-RW drive. A little speech balloon will pop up and tell you that you have files waiting to be written to disk. Clicking on the E: drive (or whatever your CD-RW drive letter is) will show you the files waiting to be written. Insert a blank CD-R into the CD-RW drive and find in the left sidebar menu the option to Write these files to disk. Clicking on this option opens the CD Writing Wizard for a name for the CD. Click Next and wait while the files are written, and the drive will open when the task is completed. Click Finish.

To add more files, just put the CD back in the drive and repeat the above steps.
