PREZ SEZ

When Plan A doesn’t work, go to Plan B, and if that doesn’t work, get creative. Sometimes things work out even better. I had planned to tell you about saving data as .xml files, but I haven’t got enough expertise to do that yet; then I planned to tell you about the nice promotion offer ICON received from Smart Computing magazine, the best magazine to which I have subscribed for novices as well as more advanced folks, but I can’t find a file that I wanted to quote. However, I did find that SmartComputing has a Presentation in a Box which they will send to us and it includes a PowerPoint presentation, etc. So, I’m going to share an article sent to me by Dorothy McCurdy and it could mean the difference between life and death for someone we know:

Symptoms to observe

A true story -- Susie is recouping at an incredible pace for someone who just had a massive stroke - all because Sherry saw Susie stumble, (a fact that isn't mentioned below), and then Sherry asked Susie 3 questions. So simple - -but this action literally saved Susie's life--read and learn!

THIS IS SOMETHING WE ALL NEED TO KNOW, IS IT A STROKE
?

Sometimes symptoms of a stroke are difficult to identify. Unfortunately, the lack of this awareness may spell disaster. A stroke victim may suffer brain damage when people nearby fail to recognize the symptoms of a stroke.  Now, doctors say a bystander can recognize a stroke by asking three simple questions:

Ask the person to SMILE.

Ask the person to RAISE BOTH ARMS.

Ask the person to SPEAK A SIMPLE SENTENCE.

If the person has trouble with any of these tasks, call 9-1-1 immediately and describe the symptoms to the dispatcher.

After discovering that a group of non-medical volunteers could identify facial weakness, arm weakness and speech problems, researchers urged the general public to learn these three questions. They presented their conclusions at the American Stroke Association's annual meeting last February.  Widespread use of this test could result in prompt diagnosis and treatment of a stroke and prevent brain damage.

A cardiologist said that if everyone who reads this passes it on to 10 people, you can be sure that at least one life will be saved. BE A FRIEND AND SHARE THIS ARTICLE WITH AS MANY PEOPLE AS POSSIBLE.
