ICON USERS GROUP WEBSITE
How much time have you spent exploring our site? I’d spent very little time there. Oh, I get on the forums several times a week to see what’s going on, but until recently, I’d ignored the rest of the site. Big mistake! I checked out some of the links in the Monthly Program and Links sections and have discovered many, many hours of fun checking out all the places listed there.
There is enough knowledge/tutorials listed to turn all of us into gurus if we’d read, heed and understand them. But, even if that’s not your desire, check them out anyway. You’ll be led to other subjects, other sites that may enchant you. That is the basis of my fascination with the Internet. One can start out looking for something entirely sensible and end up on some strange, esoteric site that has really weird ideas/outlooks and is just fascinating! You’ll get a glimpse of life that’s very different from yours and you’ll have something new to think about. It’s probably something you have no real interest in, but being aware of something new is exciting, and, once in a while, you’ll happen upon something that will become a very important part of your life.
Also, check out your home page in detail. There’s a lot of information there that you probably ignore. Go beyond the news headlines and look at everything. A lot of it is commercial ads, but some of those sites will be gems, too. I got to the MSN home page from an ICON link, and delved into some pretty interesting stuff. It’s how I waste many fun hours. Our webmaster has accumulated a lot of good stuff, so take advantage of it.

SPRINGFIELD GREENE COUNTY LIBRARY
I’m still in awe about this site after Sarah Marshall’s excellent program recently. I also got an e-mail from John Rutherford, Local History & Genealogy Department at the library, who recommends the Frisco page on the site. Sarah touched on this, but it really is neat if you’re even casually interested in local history. Be sure to keep this site in the forefront of your mind and visit often because they keep adding good stuff. http://thelibrary.springfield.missouri.org/lochist/collections.cfm is the listing of the digitized collections in our library. There’s a link to local history sites in other parts of the state which look fascinating. You can learn a lot about our state and it’s history without ever leaving your chair.
