| Q. I received a PowerPoint presentation and I don’t have PowerPoint on my computer. Is there a way I can see this presentation with buying a program? |
|
A. To download Microsoft’s PowerPoint Viewer, you have three options:
- In the address bar, type in http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=428d5727-43ab-4f24-90b7-a94784af71a4&displaylang=en
- Go to google.com, type in Microsoft PowerPoint Viewer, and press the Enter key on your keyboard; or
- In the address bar, type: tinyurl.com/3nend. Now you can download the viewer program and install it.
On the download site, there are also viewers for Word and Excel 2003.

| Q.
How can I copy text from the web and not have all those box frames? |
A.
If you have Word 2003 and paste your selected material into a Word document, a little Paste Options button appears near the lower right corner. Clicking this button gives the options: Keep source formatting, Match destination formatting, Keep text only, and Apply style or formatting. If you use the Keep text only option, hyperlinks become just plain text and don’t go anywhere. If you want to keep a link in your document, you can highlight just the link and copy it into your document.
To turn off this feature, follow the path: Tools > Options > Edit tab and uncheck Show Paste Options button.

| Q.
I downloaded a beautiful new font, Cherries Black, from Fontaholic where there are free fonts— http://tinyurl.com/9sb44. The name of the file is cherries.zip. How do I install it so I can use it? |
A.
Oh yeah, that is a very nice font. First, you’ll need to unzip it by double clicking on the file name. Note the folder where it’s being unzipped to so you can find it. Once it has been installed, it will be available to all your applications such as Word, CreataCard, etc. Open the folder where the file was unzipped and look for a filename ending in .ttf for True Type Font. Now open the Windows Explorer by right-clicking Start—Explore. Scroll down to the second WINDOWS folder and click on the plus sign to expand it. Look down the list for a folder called Fonts. Right click on the unzipped file called cherries.ttf and drag it to the Fonts folder.

| Q.
How can I change the font in a label typed in MS Word? |
| A. The text that appears automatically in the label is in the font selected in your Word document or if there is no text written, then the text in the label is the font selected as the default for your Word documents. To change the font after you’ve typed a label, select, or highlight, the text then right click anywhere in the selected text for a menu, click on Font and select the font in whatever size you want.
Tip: If you want an envelope or address label to go with a document you type, highlight the address in the document then open the Envelopes and Labels window and it will automatically be placed there. Tools > Letters and Mailings > Envelopes and Labels.
