On June 18th, beginning at 12:30 PM, at the Library Center Auditorium, ICON celebrated 15 years of service to its members and the community, by serving coffee, cake, and ice cream prior to our regular meeting. Charter and life members, past and present officers, and others who have given of themselves were recognized during the meeting. Thanks to all who have contributed to ICON’S success over the years!
Our June program featured Ozarks Technical Community College’s (OTC) Scott Turk, who explained the opportunities available to us through their Continuing Education program. Scott explained that OTC’s VIP program allows seniors to take nearly any class for the cost of a text book and a $15.00 lab fee. I sincerely hope that ICON members will take advantage of the opportunities offered by OTC!
Don’t miss ICON’S July 16th meeting at St. John’s Mid-America Cancer Center, when our guest speaker will be Kathy Fritts, Springfield City Utilities Director of Information Technology. Kathy will be talking about the effects of technology on utility services, including security issues such as spam and viruses. Check our website for more details.
Happy Computing,
Terry
