When I checked the long range forecast on September 10th, the prediction was for scattered or isolated thunderstorms every day except Saturday the 17th of the following week. Having lived in or near Springfield all my life, I had to wonder how likely it was that ICON’s picnic would be rained out.

As luck would have it though, the sun rose bright and beautiful with a bright blue sky on the 17th. The temperature hinted at the autumn’s approach, but warmed nicely to make a perfect day for a picnic.

As usual, the food was good, the fellowship was great, and we gave away several nice door prizes. I had a wonderful time visiting with everyone!

My heartfelt thanks go out to all of you who attended this event, helping to make it special for me. My spirits are lifted whenever I see our members working together to accomplish something. The whole is truly greater than the sum of the parts!

As of this writing, I still do not have a program finalized for ICON’S October 15 th meeting (to be held at Mid-America Cancer Center), but as you read this issue of the newsletter, it is posted in the calendar on ICON’S web site.
