SHARING OUR SUCCESS
You CAN Help

by Terry Roberts

ICON’S officers are constantly working to provide support for whatever aspects of personal computing the members are interested in, and because most of our new members come to us as beginners, we continually provide beginner level support.

Think back to when you first started using computers; remember some of your fears and frustrations?

Nancy Preffitt has said many times that when she first got a computer she was sure that it would blow up if she did something wrong, and I suspect most of us felt that way.

I think it would be helpful for our beginning members if each of us (yes, everyone!) wrote a short article telling one of our own stories of learning to use a computer. It could be funny or serious, short or long, telling some of our frustrations and triumphs as we began conquering our fear of the unknown, and learning to utilize the computer for whatever each of us uses it for. How about sharing your story with the rest of us?

Each month, Faye Patrick, our newsletter editor, struggles to produce a quality publication for us, and one of the main obstacles she faces is getting enough content. This is a way everyone can participate in ICON’S continued growth and success. Each month she could include in the newsletter, one or two articles (depending upon the length), to encourage others as they take their first steps into the world of technology.

Simply write your story, save it as a “.doc” file type, and send it as an e-mail attachment to Faye. You must include your name and e-mail address, but if you wish to remain anonymous, just ask Faye to withhold your name. I’m sure she will keep your identity a secret.

I’ll submit one of my own to get the ball rolling

Terry
