PLEASE MARK SATURDAY, MARCH 18 ON YOUR CALENDAR.... RIGHT NOW if you haven’t already done so. On that date, ICON’S March of Technology will be held at The Library Center, 4653 S Campbell, here in Springfield, MO. This conference is a user group effort and we’ll need EVERYONE who is available to help out in some capacity for a few hours during the day—greeting in the lobby, handling out programs, serving refreshments, baking cookies ahead of time, introducing a speaker, answering questions about ICON, manning an information booth, accepting memberships, accepting older equipment for recycling, or registering people for terrific door prizes--over $1000 has been spent on a Compaq laptop, Samsung 19” LCD Monitor, Konica Minolta Laser printer, 6 PNY 512mb Flash drives, Norton SystemWorks, Norton AV06/GoBack, Norton Software Bundle, D-Link Router, and Epson All-in-One machine, etc. A list of jobs and time slots will be posted on the Forum. The Spring Issue 2006 of Bookends Library News & Calendar of Events will have our programs listed including the March of Technology event. Look for Terry’s article—I’m sure he’ll have more information for you, and bring all your friends.
Speaking of the Forum, if you have email, you should have received a message from me after Christmas asking you to log on and share some conversation. Those who did all say it was fun and I certainly enjoyed it; however, if you missed out please email me and I’ll provide instructions for getting registered again.
In my January PrezSez article, I relayed a story that I’ve since learned was an urban legend—it didn’t really happen—however, it could have. The point still is—USE THE BLIND CARBON COPY FEATURE IN EMAILS TO AVOID PUTTING OUT A BUNDLE OF YOUR FRIENDS’ ADDRESSES WHERE OTHER FOLKS CAN SEE ‘EM! AND CLEAN OUT THE ADDRESSES IN FORWARDED MESSAGES. Thanks and be safe.
