| Q. What Is the difference between DVD-R and DVD+R? |
A. DVD-R and DVD+R are two types of DVD writer/burner drives that write to discs in different ways. It is necessary to have the type of DVD discs that the writer/burner requires or you won’t be able to write or read files. Some DVD burners are equipped to write both formats and some write only one or the other. There are a lot more plus R drives than minus R drives so be sure to get the correct discs -- they are not inter-changeable. Both types are “write once” formats and both have single-sided room for 4.7 GB of data. Newer technology is making possible “dual layer” DVD writing drives and they can write on both sides of a special type of DVD.
