This meeting was held in the Community Room at The Brentwood Library, 2214 Brentwood Blvd, starting at 1:00 pm.
President Mary Phillips welcomed everyone present recognizing new members and visitors that were present. Today being ICON’S annual election, a teller committee of three was appointed to count and tally the ballots.
A discussion was held to go over the successful March Of Technology held at The Library Center march 18th. This was an all day event starting early in the morning by ICON Volunteers who were able to participate in this first of its kind in Springfield. The doors opened at 8:30 AM. Many tables lined both sides on the long library entrance foyer, ICON'S table was visible answering questions and guiding visitors to the different events.
The Auditorium where speakers lined up to hourly presentations, with the key note speaker being Roger Tesch Regional 7 APCUG (Association of Computer Users Groups) of which ICON has been an active member since 1991. Meeting Room A was designated as the computer hospital and receiving room for recycling old computer monitors and discarded computers. Room B was used to display computers of the past and where all the free refreshments were available with a few tables to rest your weary feet, there were so many people involved in this event that it would be impossible to name them all, Our Program Chairman Terry Roberts come up with this idea and we give him a hand of applause.
From the Teller Committee the following 2006 ICON election results were announced, President Mary Phillips, Vice President Nancy Preffitt, Secretary Bill Patrick, Treasurer Sarah Marshall, News Letter Chairman Faye Patrick, Program Chairman Terry Roberts, Membership Chairman Joyce Haubein, Education Committee Richard Preffitt and for Disk Librarian Elsa Hazell.
The balance of the meeting was spent with Mick Topping guiding us how to FIND IT ON THE INTERNET. This meeting closed at 3:20 pm.
