ICON FORUM

by Penny Kubitschek

Whether you are a new or established member of ICON, you need to be aware of the plethora of information available through ICON’S Home Page. One of the exciting benefits available at your fingertips (literally) is the Forum. You might already know the Forum includes the general topics of Digital Imaging, Internet, Windows, Office Applications, Web Design, and General. There are also Swap Meet and Statistics sections.

But you might not know about the NEW "training" feature available. When you get to the Home Page (at www.iconusersgroup.org), click on "Forums" in the list on the left. You will then see a brown "Forum | Topics | Posts | Last Post" line, a yellow " Test/Practice Forum" line, and a NEW white "Visit New to the ICON Forum? Start Here... | New to the ICON Forum? Start Here…" line.

Click on this "New…?" line and you will get to the "Welcome" page, which guides you to the answers to the following questions:

  • Do I have to be an ICON member to use the forum?
  • I just want to read and/or search existing posts.
  • I want to post a question/comment to the forum.
  • Forum Etiquette & Other considerations
  • My problem is not addressed here; I still need help with the forum.

There is even a list of FAQs (Frequently Asked Questions) for your review. If you are unable to find the information you need, you can contact the Forum Administrator.

Another NEW feature is that on the monthly calendars, you can now see the topics of several monthly meetings in advance. This is because now that ICON has partnered with the Springfield-Greene County Library system and our meetings are listed in the Library’s quarterly Bookends publication, we must determine the meeting topics at least three months in advance—which benefits us all.
