How can I import my address book from Outlook Express into MS Outlook? |
A.The following procedure from MS Outlook Help tells how to import an address book from Outlook Express into MS Outlook. If you want to import your messages as well, skip step 4. I selected “Do not import duplicate items.” and it imported only six contacts.
- In Outlook, on the File menu, click Import and Export.
- Under Choose an action to perform, click Import Internet Mail and Addresses.
- Under Select the Internet Mail application to import from, click Outlook Express 4.x, 5.x, 6.x.
- Clear the check boxes for Import Mail and Import Rules. Only the Import Address Book check box should be selected.
- Click Next.
- Select one of the following :
- Replace duplicates with items imported Existing data will be overwritten with the information in the file that is being imported.
- Allow duplicates to be created Existing data will not be overwritten, and duplicates will be added to the current Outlook folder.
- Do not import duplicate items Existing data will be kept, and the duplicate information in the file will not be copied to the current Outlook folder.
- Click Finish.
After the export is complete, click Save in Inbox if you want a message in your Inbox that logs what was exported, or click OK.

How do I find Microsoft’s interactive Online tutorials for Office 2003 programs? |
| A. Microsoft’s interactive training tutorials are excellent and they are available for almost any topic with which you might want help. There is audio instruction, so you’ll need your speakers turned on, or plug earphones or a headset into the sound card.
- Open any Microsoft Office Program.
- Click on Help on the menu bar.
- Click on Microsoft Office Online. (This takes you to the Microsoft Office Online Home page. Down the left side of the page are menu items—Home, Assistance, Training, Templates, Clip Art and Media, Downloads, Office Marketplace, etc.)
- Click on Training.
- About halfway down in the second column, locate a section called Browse Training Courses with links to Access 2003, Excel 2003, Front Page 2003, InfoPath 2003, OneNote 2003, Outlook 2003, PowerPoint 2003, Project 2003, Publisher 2003, Visio 2003, Word 2003 and More Office 2003 Programs. In other sections on the page, there are audio courses, webcasts, books, more tutorials and reference information, and skill assessment and certification.
- Select the program you want to learn. Individual lessons are listed by topic, and any order or topic may be chosen as you wish. Estimated times are given for each tutorial, but you can take as long as you want, repeat as many times as you want, and come back as many times as you want. I usually take considerably longer than they suggest.
