Microsoft Digital Image Suite Plus is actually a combination of both the Microsoft Digital Image 2006 photo editing software and Pinnacle Studio Version 10 video editing software.

Microsoft Digital Image 2006 will do just about anything you could want from photo editing software. The tour of the software that is included is in clear, concise and easy-to-understand terms. It is in both a text format and an instructional video format that shows visual learners (like me) how to do things, step by step. It explains how to adjust any digital photo you have taken, and makes you look like a professional photographer. One of my favorite parts is the section called "Exploring the Work Area," which explains where all the tools are on the toolbar and how they are used.

I played with both recent and old photos, and there was a great improvement in the appearance on both types. For the photos that had been taken with a digital camera, the red eye repair tool and the auto fix features were a great help. If you are not happy with the results from auto fix, you can go back and change individual settings to get the result you want to make the perfect photo. On an old photo I had scanned, I was happier with the results I received when I made the adjustments myself, rather than relying on the auto fix features.

I have not used much photo editing software in the past, but I enjoy playing with things and have the patience to figure things out. I felt the ultimate test of the intuitive nature of this software was to have my semi-computer-literate husband test it out. With very little frustration, he was able to rework a photo he scanned in, correct the lighting and the color, resize it and set it up in a format so that it could be exported to his smartphone in less that half an hour. He was very proud of himself, because he has felt that most photo editing software is either too difficult to understand or just takes too long for the average person to be able to use. He felt it was much easier to use, and he was able to get good results in a short period of time.

Pinnacle Studio will help you take those home videos and edit them, add titles, record narration, and add a music soundtrack. I was able to take footage of a dog show, edit out the parts I didn’t want, add music, and make a video to send to my friends in an e-mail. Although this was more involved than the photo editing, it has the potential to be fun.

One of the great things about this software is the way you can organize your photos and videos in the Digital Image Library. You can organize your items in many different ways : by subject, by date, or even by a ranking of quality. Upon installation, the photos and videos you have on your computer can be automatically added to the Image Library. This way you can find what you need, when you it!
