Are you one of ICON'S proud volunteers? The pay is the same whether you are an officer or a participating member. It is a big ZERO.

The next time you attend an ICON function or a monthly SIG, let it be known that we really appreciate the presenter for their efforts and time to bring us this knowledge. ICON'S purpose from the beginning has been to help members and the general public uses their computers and software more effectively.

Take our annual picnic held in September. It didn't just happen. Planning and arrangements started in January 2006. First, reservations were made for the park. Volunteers picked up extra tables, the grill, and coolers; shopped for food and supplies for the volunteer cooks and the table decorators; baked beans in their homes; and many who attended brought a salad, dessert or their favorite dish. Those who purchased tickets in advance made it possible for the food and supplies to be purchased. Many volunteers made this event a success.

This applies to all other monthly SIGS. They don't just happen. ICON volunteers arrange the seating, set up the equipment, spend many hours studying and preparing their presentations to assure you get the most benefit from attending the SIG. So the next time you attend a SIG, say “thank you” to the person giving the presentation. You many want to volunteer to do one yourself; helping others is what it is all about.
