| Q.
Where can I get IMMEDIATE help when I have a problem or a question? |
A.ICON offers two ways you can get help quickly. First is ICON’s online Forum at www.iconusersgroup.org, where you’ll have the expertise of a group of helpers looking for a solution to the problem or question.
Second is the list of individuals in the Help Desk section of the printed (hard copy) Newsletter.
Another option is to type in the address bar the main words that describe the problem, such as: “Error message 642” or “How do I.....?” Typing the problem into Google’s search engine is another option that may likely find you an answer. Or, Smart Computing’s Tech Support Center may have an answer for you. Be persistent. That’s how we all learn.

How do I find Microsoft’s interactive Online tutorials for Office 2003 programs? |
| A. Microsoft’s interactive training tutorials are excellent and they are available for almost any topic with which you might want help. There is audio instruction, so you’ll need your speakers turned on, or plug earphones or a headset into the sound card.
- Open any Microsoft Office Program.
- Click on Help on the menu bar.
- Click on Microsoft Office Online. (This takes you to the Microsoft Office Online Home page. Down the left side of the page are menu items—Home, Assistance, Training, Templates, Clip Art and Media, Downloads, Office Marketplace, etc.)
- Click on Training.
- About halfway down in the second column, locate a section called Browse Training Courses with links to Access 2003, Excel 2003, Front Page 2003, InfoPath 2003, OneNote 2003, Outlook 2003, PowerPoint 2003, Project 2003, Publisher 2003, Visio 2003, Word 2003 and More Office 2003 Programs. In other sections on the page, there are audio courses, webcasts, books, more tutorials and reference information, and skill assessment and certification.
- Select the program you want to learn. Individual lessons are listed by topic, and any order or topic may be chosen as you wish. Estimated times are given for each tutorial, but you can take as long as you want, repeat as many times as you want, and come back as many times as you want. I usually take considerably longer than they suggest.
