Don't miss our annual Holiday and Christmas dinner and party at 3:00 p.m., immediately following the regular membership meeting on December 16. This fun and festive event will be held at Ryan's Steak House, 2501 South Campbell Avenue. The cost per person will be $8.99 plus tax. Drinks other than water will be an additional $1.59. A 15 percent gratuity will be added to the ticket total. Simply tell the cashier you are with the ICON party.
Before dinner, join us at 1:00 p.m. in the Library Center auditorium to learn the "how, where, and why" of E-waste recycling. Our guest speaker will be Mr. Harold Bingham, owner and operator of Office Equipment Recycling Center. This is not a collection day, but Mr. Bingham told me that he takes all electronic equipment, including color monitors, at no cost. (There is a $10.00 charge for monochrome monitors.)
You beginners and new ICON members who need help getting started, don't forget to join Nancy Preffitt at 12 :15 p.m. in the "Beginners' Corner" for questions and answers about whatever is on your mind!
On January 20 at Brentwood Library, Mark Vandersnick will present "Desktop Ergonomics" to help us learn how to avoid lower back pain, carpal tunnel syndrome, stiff neck, etc. from working long hours at our computers. Be there–or be sore!
January is also "Clean out Your Closet Month." Round up all your used (but still usable), unneeded software, hardware, peripherals, books, etc. and bring them to the meeting for someone who needs them.
Did you know that over 350 million used ink cartridges are discarded in North American landfills each year, or that over three quarts of oil are required to produce one new laser cartridge? In February, learn how to save money buying guaranteed, refilled cartridges for your printer, and help protect the environment too!
Mark your calendar now for ICON's 2007 "March of Technology" expo, to be held March 24 at the Library Center. Bigger and better than last year...don't miss it!
See you on the Internet,
Terry
