A.Use the Windows file manager, Windows Explorer, to do both. Let’s say you want to use a font called Cherries Black that is on Computer 1 in a program on Computer 2.
On Computer 1 :
- Click on Start—Explore.
- Expand the C:\ drive folder by clicking on the plus (+) sign. (It may be already expanded.)
- In the C:\ drive folder, locate the Windows folder and expand it the same way--by clicking on the (+) sign.
- Scroll down until you find the folder called Fonts and open it by clicking on the folder.

ach font name by default is shown as a large icon. On the menu bar at the top of the window, click on View—Details. This allows you to see the filename as well as the font name – Cherries.ttf
- Select the Font name by clicking on it once. Clicking twice opens the file and shows what the font looks like. Restore the window size down to half size by clicking on the middle button in the upper right corner and minimize any other open windows so part of the desktop is visible.
- Right-click on the filename and drag it onto the desktop. Release the mouse button and select Copy Here. The file on the desktop can now be written to a jump drive, a floppy disk, or a CD by right clicking on the filename and selecting Send to or e-mailed as an attachment.
To e-mail a font file:
- With the e-mail message open, click on Attach File,
- Locate the file on the desktop and click once to select it,
- Click on Attach file, and return to the message,
- Click on Send whenever the message is ready.
On Computer 2:
- Insert the media into the proper drive or port, go to My Computer and double-click on the drive to see the files. If you sent the file to a floppy disk, for example, double-click on Drive A: ; a CD or a jump drive might be Drive D: or Drive E :, etc.
- In whichever drive Cherries.ttf is, right-click on the filename and select Copy.
- Follow the above directions to the Fonts folder, and then in a blank space in the Fonts folder, right-click –Paste. The font, Cherries Black, is now available to be selected to use in a word processor, card program, or any other program using text.
Font files received by e-mail:
- Click on the paperclip to open the file,
- Click on Download Attachment,
- Click on Save,
- In the Save As window, click on the down arrow at the right end of the Save In : bar and select Drive C:,
- Scroll to the Windows folder and click to open,
- Scroll to the Fonts folder and click to open,
- The filename should be listed in the Filename bar and now you click the Save button.
