This meeting was held in The Library Center Auditorium, 4653 South Campbell, at 1 :00 p.m. Visitors and members were welcomed.
President Mary Phillips asked for Officers’ Reports.
- Treasurer’s Report was given by Sarah Marshall.
- Ed Williams, Education Chair, reported that he had received a disk from Sarah Marshall to be placed into ICON's Disk Library, and that the Disk Library was available at this meeting.
- Vice President Nancy Preffitt reported that the Material for Vest had been purchased, which is to be used during the March of Technology.
- Faye Patrick, Newsletter Editor, reminded everyone that the newsletter deadline would be December 17 th.
Bidding on the ICON Desktop continued, and the highest bid was $185 on December 16th.
Mr. Harold Bingham, guest speaker and owner of Office Equipment Recycling Center, on East Kearney Street, spoke about learning why, where, and how to properly dispose of your old PCs and other business machines.
Terry Roberts, Program Chair, gave the following report :
- At the January 20 th General Membership Meeting at 1:00 p.m., “Clean out Your Closet.” Online Editor's note: This is NOT a recycling pickup day. Please bring ONLY used but usable hardware, software, peripherals and books. Do NOT bring old or broken computers/monitors. There will be a recycling pickup at the March of Technology.
- Physical Therapist Mark Vandersnick, in his presentation on “Desktop Ergonomics,” will demonstrate how to avoid stress and injury due to improper posture and poor work habits while spending time at your computer.
- The February 17 th General Membership Meeting will be held at the Brentwood Library at 1:00 p.m. The program will be “Save Money (and the Environment) Using Recycled Ink Cartridges.”
It was announced that Fran Miller and Donna DeJong had volunteered to help on the Membership Committee.
Sarah Marshall reported that ICON’s new database should be in operation near January 2007.
This meeting adjourned at 2:50 p.m., and the crowd headed for ICON's Annual Christmas and Holiday Dinner Party at Ryan's Family Steakhouse on South Campbell Avenue.
A free drawing for door prizes followed the Christmas Dinner Party. The party broke up around 5 :30 p.m.
