INTERESTING PLACES
TO VISIT ON THE INTERNET

Internet Public Library
This certainly is not as wonderful as our own local library site, but does have lots and lots of lists of sites you can use to delve further into almost any subject on the Internet. Includes a reference center, a catalog of books and publications, subject-based collections, and resources for kids and teens. http://www.ipl.org/

Springfield-Greene County Library
While you’re looking for information, don’t forget our own library site. You will be amazed at what’s waiting for you there! Check out two new award-winning Web pages (designed by our own Sarah Marshall!), “The Informed Decision,” which gives you data on Springfield’s most talked about local issues. You can get all points of view by accessing the various sites listed there. “Hot Topics” provides information on the “burning” issues of the day. You’ll be able to access them – and much, much more – at www.thelibrary.org

Dotty’s Virtual Jigsaws
The virtual jigsaw puzzle comes into its own on this site. You’ll find reviews of virtual puzzles, puzzles to play online or download, and links to daily jigsaws. This appears to be much more difficult than JigZone, although I usually play the easy shapes/number of pieces on there. http://www.geocities.com/dottystorer/Jigsaw1.html

Craftzine
Craft is an online magazine from the same creators of the popular e-zine "Make.” It is a project-based magazine that is "dedicated to the renaissance" of do-it-yourself crafts. I checked out the sewing section and learned that I can make a slipcase for my laptop from a pair of pants – if I ever wanted to! I also found instructions for making earrings from printed circuit boards, and similar exciting projects. There are some more sensible ones there, too. http://www.craftzine.com/

Measure 4 Measure Web Site
A collection of Interactive Sites on the Web that calculates, evaluates, translates etc. You can learn how to measure most anything most any way here. And while you're on there, check out his other site, “Word Play.” You'll be treated with a variety of games including one that will take your last name and tell you how many words you can spell from it!
