Q. How do I get rid of the boxes around text in something I copy from the Web?

A. If you are talking about text in tables in Word, you can select the text, click on Table—Convert—Table to Text—Paragraph Marks. Leave the box beside Convert Nested Tables checked.Tabs, Commas, andOther are additional options besides Paragraph Marks.

Text can also be converted to tables. Selecting the text, click on Table—Convert—Text to Table. You will need to supply the number of columns and rows that you want, how you want the text to fit in the cells, and how you want the text separated—by paragraphs, commas, tabs, or other.

Q. I have received an address book file in Windows Address Book (.wab) format. How can I get it added into my SBC Yahoo online address book?
A. First, just in case something messes up, let’s export for backup your current SBC Yahoo address book. Click on the Addresses tab and look clear over to the right where it says: Sync - Import/Export – Options. Click on Import/Export. On the Import and Export page are two sections – Import at the top and if you scroll down, you’ll see the Export section. Select Yahoo CSV, and click on the Export Now button. The resulting filename will be yahoo_ab.csv. Now click on the Save button and save it someplace temporarily like your desktop.

Now go to the Yahoo address book and click on Import/Export. This time click on Import, then click on Browse beside option number 3 and locate the .wab file. Click on the Import Now button (option number 4) and you will see the names fly by as they are imported.

Q. What are CSV files?
A.CSV stands for comma separated values. It is a text only format; the fields are enclosed in quotation marks and separated by commas. A portion of my SBC Yahoo address book opened in MS Word looks like this:

"First","Middle","Last","Nickname","Email","Category",
"Distribution Lists","MessengerD","Home","Work","Pager","Fax",
"Mobile","Other","Yahoo! Phone", "Primary","Alternate Email 1",
"Alternate Email 2","Personal Website",
"Business Website","Title","Company","Work Address",
"Work City","Work State", "Work ZIP","Work Country",
"Home Address","Home City","Home State","Home ZIP", "Home Country","Birthday","Anniversary","Custom 1","Custom 2",
"Custom 3", "Custom 4","Comments","Messenger ID1",
"Messenger ID2","Messenger ID3", "Messenger ID4",
"Messenger ID5","Messenger ID6","Messenger ID7",
"Messenger D8","Messenger ID9","Skype ID","IRC ID",
"ICQ ID", "Google ID","MSN ID", "AIM ID","QQ ID"

"Mary","","Phillips","","mphillip1@sbcglobal.net",
"ICONofficers","ICONmembers","","","","","","","","","","",
"","","","","","","","","","","","","","","","","","","","","","","",
"","","","","","","","","","","", "","","",""

Opened in MS Excel, it looks like this

Because of the text only format, a .csv file can be imported into many other address books, databases, and other programs.
