New Election Notes:

If for any reason you have not received an election ballot or have any other inquiries, please contact New Election Committee Chair, Mary Stewart (417- 863-7149 or macstew8ster@gmail.com), or Penny Kubitschek (417-881-3636 or PennyPositive@sbcglobal.net). This information was omitted in the cover letter.

The following individuals have been appointed to be in charge of counting the ballots, and a training session will be conducted about a week before the election to expedite the process: Charles Roberts, Monitor; John Szesny, DeLynn Bishop, and Pat Gavisk, Tellers (Election Judges). If you would like to receive a copy of the detailed plans as to how the handling of the ballots will be carried out, please contact Mary Stewart or Penny Kubitschek as listed above.

We are looking forward to a fair election with all the checks and balances in place, and with a few notes about needed tweaks in ICON’s Bylaws before the next election. Thank you for participating by voting.

ICON’s 17th Birthday Party will also be on June 16. Please join us for the celebration with cake and ice cream.

Digital Sundays – Free Digital Photo Workshops 12 p.m. – 2 p.m. This is the Photo Center ad in the CVS Pharmacy flyer for the past several weeks, so I went today to see what it is all about. A friendly and very helpful Digital Expert, Tina Willing, showed us how to use all the features of the Kodak kiosks using CVS Photo Editor Plus software, which was designed by Corel. You may bring in your camera to the workshop and a Digital Expert will help you learn how to use it. You can bring in your laptop with Photoshop installed and you can get some instruction about using the program.

Two gifts were given out – a copy of the software used on the kiosks (Corel Snapfire Plus SE with trial versions of some of the features) and a magnetic photo frame. When I installed the program on my computer, I learned that free downloads of album pages and collage pages were available from Corel if I would register, so I did. An e-mail came with a link to download the templates. On Corel’s website, there was also a link to subscribe to a free monthly e-mail photography newsletter called Zoom In.

A text file on the CD listed the 30-day trial features as:

  • Backup to CD/DVD – keep photo collection safe
  • Makeover tools – whiten teeth, remove blemishes, even paint on a tan
  • Add text, frames, and edges, and
  • Video editing.

Pat Gavisk is writing a review for the newsletter about the full-featured program.
