Q. When I have something written and there are just a few lines or a paragraph that extends onto a second page, is there a way I can make everything fit on one page besides deleting some of my writing?

A. In MS Word, there is a feature called “Shrink to Fit”. Click on File—Print Preview and click on the Shrink to Fit icon . This feature decreases the font size in small increments so it will all fit on one page. If you would like to put this icon on the toolbar, click on Tools—Customize—Tools and scroll down until you find “Shrink to Fit”. Put the mouse pointer on the icon, left click and drag the icon to where you want it on the toolbar, and release the mouse button. If you change your mind about having the icon on the toolbar, just delete it.

I know this feature is available in Corel Word Perfect, and probably in Open Office but I didn’t find it when I looked briefly, but I don’t know about MS Works word processor.

Q. What address did Mick give for a throw-away or disposable e-mail account?
A. Dodgeit.com is the address, and it works great. Dodgeit is an e-mail service that allows you to make up any e-mail ID or name as long as it ends with “@dodgeit.com”. There is nothing to set up and therefore no tracing it back to a “real” e-mail account. This is a receive only account, so you can’t send e-mails from the site but you can use the site for receiving newsletters, confirmation e-mails, mailing lists, etc.

Whenever you sign up for something on the Web with a disposable e-mail address, you don’t use your real e-mail address but an alias of it. Every alias is created specifically for a site or mailing list, and the disposable e-mail address becomes associated with it. An unlimited number of accounts can be created, and you can selectively disable a disposable account as soon as you get spam through it.

Dodgeit is free unless you want to password-protect your mailbox, and then you may make a donation through a link to either PayPal or Amazon Honor System. Bear in mind, anyone can read any e-mail address on dodgeit.com just as easily as you can, so think up unusual or obscure IDs. Messages are automatically deleted in seven days for free accounts, and whenever you choose for password-protected accounts.

Practicing, I went to a couple of different places and sent e-mail to myself at lazydaz@dodgeit.com. Then I went to www.dodgeit.com and typed in my ID. It looked like this:

Another neat feature of dodgeit.com is that it provides an RSS feed so that you get a message on your home page whenever you have mail in your mailbox and all you have to do is click on it.
