Yea!!!! The election is finally over, and the new officers have been installed except for Margaret Schatz, Program Committee Chair, who was up in Wisconsin climbing her family tree. Though I didn’t win the office of Secretary, I feel very happy about the way the balloting was conducted by the New Election Committee members, Mary Stewart, Rhonda Winterhalter, and Penny Kubitschek, and the counting that was done by Monitor Charles Roberts and Tellers John Szesny, Pat Gavisk, and Lynn Bishop. Thank you all for an outstanding job.

To everyone who voted: Thank you for participating. It’s participation that makes any group vibrant and alive, and ICON is that. One thing that made me feel so good about the election, in addition to the way it was conducted, was the camaraderie that went on after the program while we waited for the Tellers to finish counting and bring us the recap. Members were visiting and laughing and having a good time; some were indulging in more ice cream, delicious birthday desserts, and coffee. (Marlene Szesny’s pineapple cake was my favorite.)

Our new officers are: President, Terry Roberts; Vice President, Marion Garrett; Secretary, Bill Patrick; Treasurer, Shirley Emerson; Education Committee Chair, Ed Williams; Newsletter Committee Chair, Faye Patrick; Program Committee Chair, Margaret Schatz; Web Site Committee Chair, Sarah Marshall; and Membership Committee Chair, Maxine Copeland.

A couple of other things made the day special. Four of ICON’s founders were present : Charles Roberts, John Loveland, and Bill and Faye Patrick. And three of the original Ozark 99ers (Texas Instruments 99/4A Users Group) were present: Henry Beersman, Charles Roberts, and myself. The Patricks were part of the original Commodore Users Group.
