A. The Recycle Bin is a Windows folder to which deleted files and folders are temporarily transferred until they are permanently deleted. When the Recycle Bin is emptied, then the files/folders are permanently deleted. As long as a file/folder is present in the Recycle Bin, it can be opened, restored or returned to its original location. The Recycle Bin is an icon on the desktop. If you have Norton Antivirus on your computer, the label under the ICON will be Norton Protected Recycle Bin.
Position the mouse pointer on the Recycle Bin and double-click the left mouse button to open the folder and see the files/folders. Left-clicking selects a filename, then double-clicking provides the file/folder Properties window that shows the date the file/folder was created and the date it was deleted. The Properties window also has a Restore button. Right-clicking gives a menu to let you Restore (to its original location), Cut (for Pasting), or Delete (permanently). Hovering the mouse pointer over a filename gives the original location to which the file/folder came from and would be restored.
If you happen to have more icons than your desktop can display and you can’t see the Recycle Bin, one icon may be hidden under another. Right-click in an open space on the desktop and select Arrange Icons by – Name and look for the shortcut.
