This regular monthly meeting was held in The Brentwood Library, 2214 Brentwood Boulevard.
Terry Roberts, ICON's new President, opened the meeting by stating that he was pleased with today’s turnout. He welcomed everyone and introduced ICON’s newest members and visitors present.
The Secretary’s June 16 minutes were shown on the screen and read by Bill Patrick, Secretary. Shannon Rumley made a motion, seconded by Faye Patrick, to approve these minutes as presented. President Terry Roberts asked whether there were any additions or corrections to the minutes. There being none, the motion passed and the minutes were approved as presented.
Shirley Emerson, Treasurer, presented her Treasurer’s Report on the screen and reviewed ICON's financial standing. There being no questions, the Treasurer’s Report was approved as presented.
Terry asked if there were any other officers’ reports. Faye Patrick, Newsletter Editor, reminded those with articles to get them to her as soon as possible, the deadline being Monday, July 23.
Maxine Copeland thanked those who are helping with the refreshments. She asked for a volunteer to help distribute ICON's promotional brochures and to post our schedules in free public advertising forums such as KY3’s Community Calendar, etc.
Ed Williams spoke about additions to ICON's shareware Library.
The program for today was "Smart Phones and PDAs, Staying Connected While Traveling." Terry Roberts then called for discussion, and a number of ICON members spoke of their experiences with these new devices and what can be done with them. Sherman Garrison, a visitor, was very knowledgeable and gave a very interesting and lengthy report on how these Smart Phones are affecting our lives. After a question-and-answer period, this meeting adjourned at 3 :00 p.m.
Respectfully submitted,
Bill Patrick
