A. Hold down Ctrl and press P (for Print). This opens the Print window to print all or selected (highlighted) data. But sometimes, if the message is too wide, the right side is cut off. In that case, click on Printable View as shown below, and that will put everything within the correct margins.
Then click on Print.

To select (highlight) just a part of the text, hold down the left mouse button and drag it over the part you want to print. Then to print only what is highlighted, in the page range section of the Print dialog box (printer selection window), click on the radio button beside Selection and then click the Print button.

A. There is a Vista update that must be downloaded and run to correct the incompatibility after you have installed Family Tree Maker 2005, 2006, or 16. There is a button labeled Check for solutions online. Click it, or follow this link and follow the instructions to download the file FTMVistaupdater.msi. Continue to follow the detailed instructions for running the update. You might want to print out the instructions—Ctrl P is the keyboard shortcut for Printing. One very important instruction is to install the update in the same folder where FTM is installed. Family Tree Maker installs in the Program Files folder. You can verify the
location by right-clicking on the Start button—Explore; then click on Program Files and look for the Family Tree Maker folder.
An update for FTM 2006 is available that makes it Version 16. The first time you run FTM after the Vista update, you should see a message telling you there is an update for the FTM program and asking if you want to update now. YES, you do. Clicking Help—About will now show Family Tree Maker Version 16.
